About Coach Mort
Running Coach & Endurance Athlete
I'm Mort — a lifelong runner and coach who believes that every adult athlete deserves a training plan that actually fits their life. Not a plan copied from a book. Not a generic template. A real plan, built around your goals, your schedule, and your body.
Coaching Philosophy
My approach draws from two well-proven methodologies: Jack Daniels' Running Formula — the gold standard for understanding training intensities and physiological adaptation — and the Norwegian double-threshold method, used by some of the world's best endurance athletes to build extraordinary aerobic capacity without chronic overtraining.
Together, these form the backbone of every plan I write: purposeful intensity, adequate recovery, and progressive overload that your body can absorb.
Who I Work With
I work primarily with adult recreational runners — people who are serious about improving but also have careers, families, and lives outside running. My athletes range from first-time half marathoners to experienced runners chasing Boston Qualifying times.
My Running Background
I've run marathons, chased PRs, learned from setbacks, and come back stronger. That experience — the highs and the hard lessons — informs how I coach. I know what it's like to balance training with everything else life demands.
